I'm currently working on a roguelike game, of sorts, but I'll get back with more details on that later.
If you're like me and your artistic skills are comparable to those of a caveman, you are probably wondering where you could get some Human characters, ready for animation, to start prototyping or actually developing your ideas.
A really cool piece of software for that is MakeHuman. It's an open source, cross platform tool where you can create and customise human 3D models. You can tweak gender, age, muscle mass, etc... It's actually pretty cool.
You can export the result to different formats. If you are using Blender like me, a great open source 3D animation suite btw, you can easily import your character thanks to an import add-on provided by the MakeHuman folks.
For animation, you can select different rigs in MakeHuman, including using Rigify, a pretty cool rigging add-on that comes with Blender ( it's off by default, you can turn it on in the preferences ).
With all this, you can get to prototyping or working on your game ideas pretty fast.
I can go into more detail on this whole process if it would be of interest to anyone.
